Do you feel like you are a slave to beauty products?

How nice would it be to wake up looking great. I used to love testing out new beauty products but now I am tired of it; its so expensive! Now I just use some blush and lipstick, never do my nails, wash my hair twice a week (saves so much shampoo), and use the bare necessities when it comes to skin care. I do not feel any pressure from society to do these things (if I did, I'd have highlights and black rims around my eyes), but I wish I could just feel satisfied with how I look (I am sometimes but that would mean that I would have had to have 8 hours of sleep, eaten sensibly, the weather would have to be perfect, etc etc.) How do you all feel?

I hate the whole routine of getting ready. It's sooo time consuming!! I also don't wash my hair every day - but thankfully it doesn't show. And now that I don't work I don't need the make-up. I skip it most days entirely as I don't go anywhere -- helps my skin stay clearer. I do spend a bit on my hair and products because when I do get myself together, it's a chore (and I don't feel like I look that different, just better) but they last a while because I only do it a couple of times a week.

No. I don't use beauty products, but I am a slave to hair products, my hair can't live without moisturizers.

There's little proven difference between drug store cosmetics, and department store cosmetics. I am very low maintenance. I had my eyeliner and eyebrows tattooed on, and then lip liner and color, so all I have to wear is blush, mascara and lip gloss. Good skin goes a long way, and I haven't worn base or powder since Junior High School, when I first started using cosmetics. Getting my make-up tattooed on was one of the best things I ever did. You wake up looking good, and you don't have to wear make-up at all.

I think my time is better served in other ways like talking to people I don't know through the computer. LOL

Still, I'd rather be here, than staring at myself in the mirror, rubbing goo on my face.

Me and all the other fairies... feel that society is expecting us to wear make up. If I had it my way, I'd wear it only on special occasions. I wear very little as is - the mineral powder stuff, mascara and neutral lipstick....

Sometimes I feel like makeup's a big hassle, and on those days I just let everybody look at me funny. Actually, women never treat me any different when I'm without makeup so I shouldn't say everybody.

But if I'm going to be out in the sun for more than a second, I wear mineral base. The one I use has spf 20 and I'm very prone to skin cancer, so ironically when I'm doing outdoor stuff, I'm more likely to look put together, lol!

You know what I am addicted to, though? Bath bombs, body scrubs and creams. Ooh la la!

the only thing you are a slave to is capitalism

Do you feel like you are a slave to beauty products?

No. I wear blush, concealer, and lip gloss (on occasion); I dab a refining mask on my face at night; and I refuse to put anything but shampoo into my hair.

I have the same views as you. I want to be beautiful form my perspective, not when someone complements me. That's why I stay away from it ALL. I don't want to be a "slave". I wanna be free.

It actually saves a lot of time. Wake up late. Don't spend useless money. I don't have to worry about impressing anyone in particular...and I actually get guys by not doing all this.
