For my bday this year my parents are letting me dye my hair. I have almost black hair %26amp; want to get purple streaks. My friend told me if you have black hair they bleach it 1st... do i HAVE 2 bleach it? how much damage will I do 2 my hair ? after i get it dyed how should i take care of my hair? (e.g. what shampoos, styling products, etc.) what will i be able %26amp; not able to do/have in my hair once itz got purple streaks in it? about how much will it cost?

I did the same thing except my hair is blonde.They bleach it and put purple in it..and the purple will stay in for about six months then when it washes out a couple weeks later it will go back to black and it will probably cost 60 or 75 dollars.

Yes generally you will have to bleach it first. it wont really damage it that much if you take care of it. use color protective shampoo. you can do everything you always do with your hair after you get your lo-lites/hi-lites. depends on where you are going probably about 40 dollars.

Yes you have to bleach it because you have dark hair. If you don't bleach it, the purple won't show up and just got absorbed into the black. It won't damage your hair if you wash and condition it well.

Once you have the streaks in, use a good shampoo that won't fade the color. And don't use a hair dryer, curling iron, hair straightener etc. or anything that will dry out your hair and make it thin and brittle.

Depending on where you live and which salon you go to, the prices will vary. At my salon in the mall, it costs $80 to get your hair dyed.
