Was Imus' remark THAT bad?

He lost his job. Ok, fine, he was rude, obnoxious, whatever. I couldnt care less if he NEVER spoke on radio again, since I dont listen to him anyway... But my point is...

If he was black and said that, would it have mattered?

Blacks constantly call people hoes, say worse then that in South Park about EVERYONE, but for some reason because these girls were black and "smart" we cant say anything about them in particular?

I am a christian, and I am SO SICK of people making fun of christians. But guess what? It happens... And I deal....

They should deal too, since their own male rap stars are saying much much much worse about them.... and portraying women much much worse then a comment about the way thier hair looks.

Was Imus' remark THAT bad?

"Nappy" is a word that has been used to describe hair of African-Americans that is curly and supposed to be dirty. The word has been used since times of the slave trade by slave-drivers. The term is extremely degrading to African-Americans who have this distinctive and unique type of natural hair. To add to the history, the first female African-American was madame CJ Walker, a woman who sold hair product to help women "fix" their hair problems. The statement is an ephitet. And the other word that Imus used is slang that refers to women who sell their bodies on the streets illegally and are looked down on in society for what they do. The Rutger Women's basketball team was not made of dirty-black headed women who sell their bodies on the street. That was also very discouraging to the tournament underdog who beat the one-lossed Duke Powerhouse team and many other better-ranked teams. I'm pissed at Sharpton; a man who should be mortified by the statements, for he'd called two falsely-accused white police officers accused of raping a black woman in the 80's some pretty horrible things. Jesse Jackson made a remark during his presidential candidacy's run calling New York City "Hymietown", an anti-semitic offensive word, that was used to recognize the city as full of Jews. "Hymietown" is a deurogatory term for Jews. They should knpow better about second chances for reconciliation. They're hypocrites and never focus on the issues within the black community. If they were concerned about what people were saying about African-Americans, they'd be protesting outside record companies over rappers' lyrics. It's a horrible ordeal. ope my answer suited your expectations.
